bweezy Posted May 18, 2009 Report post Posted May 18, 2009 Ok hi guys, So I got SCCOM 07 installed on a Win2k3 Server, like everyone else I followed the guides and did every step. Right now I’m stuck at the software deployment part. I'm trying to push out firefox as a test like in the posting but it’s not working. I'm pretty sure that I have SCCM setup right, got the package up, distribution points are good. However what do I do now at this point, my windows xp clients aren’t getting any kind of notification about a firefox package? Am I missing a step or something? bweezy Posted May 18, 2009 Report post Posted May 18, 2009 verify the firewall is off on the client for testing, does your client have the configmgr client installed ? I'm using my personal computer as a test (which has windows XP). I tried running through the Microsoft steps "How to Install Configuration Manager Clients Using Client Push", and that doesnt seem to be working. It still says No Client under Computer Management. How do I manually install the client if i cant push it through the server? I'm pretty sure that I have my SCCM setup properly but what else needs to be done so my test computer can get the test firefox package? anyweb Posted May 19, 2009 Report post Posted May 19, 2009 to push the client do as follows use an account that has local admin priviledges on the client to install the client, for testing purposes in a lab a domain admin account will suffice, right click the computer in configmgr All Systems collection and choose 'Install Client' cheers anyweb
bweezy Posted May 21, 2009 Report post Posted May 21, 2009 to push the client do as follows use an account that has local admin priviledges on the client to install the client, for testing purposes in a lab a domain admin account will suffice, right click the computer in configmgr All Systems collection and choose 'Install Client' cheers anyweb Under Computer Management > All Users > and then selecting my desktop. It still says "No" under Client. If I could get some step by step instructions on how to get the Config Manager to communicate with my WinXP machine that would be great. I've followed all the guides but I still cant get any kind of response from my test client computer, whats the deal. And all this is assuming that my Config Manager Console is setup correctly. anyweb Posted May 22, 2009 Report post Posted May 22, 2009 step 1. disable the FIREWALL on the xp client for testing, you can modify the firewall properties later via a GPO. step 2. verify if the configmgr client is installed on the client by going into control panel, do you see any configmgr icons ? if the OS is 64bit the icons will be in the 32 bit control panel icons... step 3. if the client is present in step 2 above, then open the Configuration Manager icon otherwise skip to Installing the Configmgr Client step 6/ click on the actions tab, and select the machine policy retrieval and evaluation cycle and click initiate action. If you only have three or so actions listed don't worry, this means that the computer hasnt got received it's list of policies yet from the SCCM server Step 4. Click on the discovery data collection cycle and initiate the action. Step 5. wait a few minutes, if the status of your XP client in the All Systems collection (make sure to refresh the collection, press F5 after choosing Update Collection Membership) still says client=no then reinstall the client Step 6. If you need to reinstall the client, highlight the computer in the All Systems collection, right click and choose Install Client, place a checkmark in 'always install or repair' and next....
