Hello,

i have not found why this happen on the Central Site. So this can be that some permission or other things failed.

This happen when upgradeing a Standalone Primary Site to a Hirachie with an Cnetral Administration Site.

So in the End the package look like this:

select * from CM_[CAS Site Code].dbo.SMSPackages in the datavase || Be care using query in SQL Database, wrong querry can brocke system.

PkgID: [PrimarySite]00001

Name: Configuration Manager Client Package

Version:

Language:

Manufacturer: Microsoft Corporation

Description: This package is automatically created and distributed so that client can upgrade itself from the closest distribution point.

Source: \\[CAS Server]\SMS_CAS\Client

Source Site: CAS Server

How you can see the PkgID is from the primary Site, the source path is automatically from the Central Site. I think this procuse some logicall errors in sccm. Becouse the package was not created from the CAS Server first.

Workaround 1)

Delete Client and Client Upgrade Packe from DPs.

´Create new Packages for Client and Client Upgrade.

The folder for Client and Client Upgrade can be found on CAS Server:

Drive:\Program Files\Microsoft Configuration Manager\Client or ClientUpgrade

This is not possivle from the Admin console, becouse this packages are build in so w3e have no access to delete or change this.

To anyway remove the packge from the DPs use sql command. Be sure that the build in package can not be use in Admin Console after this. You will get SMS-Provider Issue when distribute it.

Here is the SQL Query: http://nikifoster.wordpress.com/2011/01/31/troubleshooting-packages-that-just-wont-install-on-dps/

The firest one show you the entries inSQL Table.

  1. select * from pkgstatus where SiteCode = ‘Site Code of DP with troublesome package’ and ID = ‘Package ID’
select * from PkgServers where SiteCode = ‘Site Code of DP with troublesome package’ and ID = ‘Package ID’
  2. Double checking to make sure the only results relate to the site and package that you are having problems with, you then need to delete these database entries using the below:
DELETE from pkgstatus where SiteCode = ‘Site Code of DP with troublesome package’ and ID = ‘Package ID’
DELETE from PkgServers where SiteCode = ‘Site Code of DP with troublesome package’ and ID = ‘Package ID’

Other solution will be update in future.

I hope this help some people.

Best regards.
