SCCM Client install fails over vpn

Recommended Posts

Question on the client install.

We have recently rolled out SCCM and have gotten the client installed on all systems connected to the local network and system connected at a remote office site as well.
We are able to roll out packages to any of those clients fine, ADR rules work everything seems great.

However for any of our VPN clients we cannot seem to get the client installed.

The remote workstation sees the SCCM Client is available via wsus and attempts to download and install it.

However the install keeps failing.

in the ccmsetup log I keep seeing these errors:

<![LOG[Download Update: Connecting to the server.]LOG]!><time="21:03:18.716+420" date="08-27-2013" component="ccmsetup" context="" type="1" thread="11168" file="ccmsetup.cpp:6470">
<![LOG[Failed to download files through BITS. Error: 0x80200013, Description The server does not support the necessary HTTP protocol. Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) requires that the server support the Range protocol header.
, Context: The error occurred while the remote file was being processed.

It would appear it is having trouble with the client download. I have verified that the VPN subnet is setup to appear in the boundaries for the site and it is. We had that problem when pushing to the systems at the remote site but that fixed it there. it does not appear to have done so here.

Any one have any ideas what might me do to get the client to install?

Thanks much.

Found the setting on the VPN server, for those who may bump into this.

If clients are connecting to a Forefront VPN server the Malware inspection capabilities has an option called "force full content requests (remove http range header) "

BITS requires the range headers,

disabling this feature between the vpn clients and the SCCM server resolved this..
