Update TS in CM2012 SP1

Recommended Posts

According to:

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg712694.aspx

I made a change to an existing TS (just the TS, nothing else) in SCCM 2012 SP1, and per the above link, states I must redistribute the content.

Note: If you modify the task sequence, you must redistribute the content.

further down in the article it states:

Distribution Point: Select an existing distribution point, and then click OK. Distribution points that have previously received the content are not displayed.

Distribution Point Group: Select an existing distribution point group, and then click OK. Distribution point groups that have previously received the content are not displayed.

So, if it's already previously deployed and I make a change to the existing TS, and I can't see the DP/DP Grp (which I can't), how do I update/distribute the updated/modified TS?

if this is a normal task sequence and you are making minor edits to it then theres no need to redistribute anything other than a package/application that you change.

so what type of task sequence is this and what change have you made ?

It was OSD (custom image), grabbed from an HP laptop w/UEFI. The TS had both BIOS and UEFI for partition/applying OS, I removed the UEFI task, as we are currently just using the BIOS. Not sure what happened, as our other HP laptop image only had the BIOS in the TS (same model laptop). I believe my predecessor may have disabled the UEFI on the laptop he used for the previous image (laptop already deployed to the field, so I can't verify). I'm just making it identical to our other TS for testing purposes- I'm still learning SCCM, having to learn as I go. I did purchase the Unleashed book, but most of my learning is from this site. I may need to play with the BIOS/UEFI on the laptop to make it work.

* I just read here on the site you wrote Chapter 16 in the Unleashed book... nice!

Thanks for your reply, and your site!
