milchbart Posted September 16, 2013 Report post Posted September 16, 2013 Hey, I'm just create the concept for deploy windows software updates via SCCM in our environment (migration from conventional WSUS) and there are 2 questions open...tried to find anything on the web but failed so far. I hope you can help me :-) All questions are facing software updates for server systems only, no client operating-systems. We have very short maintenance windows every 4 weeks for specific customer. I read that SCCM is calculating 35 minutes for every software update and 75 minutes for a software update. When the maintenance window is not big enough, the update will not start? Right until now? Is it possible, to start the installation of software maybe 1 hour before the maintenance window starts so the only thing which is happening in the maintenance windows is the reboot? Second question is regarding our monitoring. Is it possible to set a pre-execution command in front of the software updates? For example we have a batch command, which is setting a downtime for the system you're logged on. Is it possible to run this command (kind of "pre-execution") before the system will be installing software-update or rebooting? What about post-execution commands? Any way to realize?
