shaunall Posted September 20, 2013 Report post Posted September 20, 2013 I am trying to build and capture a windows 7 x64 using sccm 2012 (NOT SP1) but it fails at setup windows and configuration manager. the task sequence log just stops after successully appying drivers. the task sequence error is 0x80004005. I searched the c:\ and virtual x:\ drives for other logs but found none. Is there a server side log that might shed some light on this? smsts.log
anyweb Posted September 22, 2013 Report post Posted September 22, 2013 you need the client side smsts.log file, and ccmsetup.log file from the client, place a pause in the task sequence to help troubleshoot it
shaunall Posted September 23, 2013 Report post Posted September 23, 2013 Where should those log be located? I searched through the client and the log I uploaded was the only one I found.
anyweb Posted September 23, 2013 Report post Posted September 23, 2013 if it fails while in WinPE: x:\windows\temp\smstslog\smsts.log if it fails while in windows: c:\windows\ccm\logs\smstslog\smsts.log and c:\windows\ccmsetup\ccmsetup.log
Canada Jack Posted September 23, 2013 Report post Posted September 23, 2013 80004005 is an access denied issue, so check network access account set up and network driver correctly.
shaunall Posted September 23, 2013 Report post Posted September 23, 2013 After finding the correct log file. The problem was pretty easy to solve. The issue was with a missing driver. I changed the Auto apply driver step to use a specific driver package for the model of machine and it was smooth sailing after that. Thanks for the help!
