Deploy Required and Available Software For Same Application

Question

SCCM 2012 deploying to a Windows 7 environment.

I am trying to deploy an Application (take Notepad++ for example). I would like to control who has access to the application via Active Directory (AD) groups. Is it possible to have one application package yet deploy it as Required or Available based on which AD group you are in? Here is my philosophy so far:

1. Created Required and Available AD groups

a. Group names "APP_Notepad_Required" and "APP_Notepad_Available"

b. Add users\groups to the groups

2. I created two User Collections called "Notepad++ (Required)" and "Notepad++ (Available)"

a. Both have query-based memberships based on the respected AD group names

3. I create the Application called "Notepad++"

Here is what i am hoping to accomplish... If the person is in the Required AD group, I would like for Notepad++ to install on any device that the user is the Primary user for (Device Affinity). If the person is in the Available AD group, I would like it to be available in the Application Catalog to install on any computer they need. Is this possible to setup through a single Application?

Your help and suggestions are much appreciated!

Yes, I can create two Deployments; I failed to mention that I have a Required and an Available one created. However, they use the same Deployment Types (because it is one Application). I cannot figure out how to have the Deployment Type determine if it should push the Required deployment or the Available deployment (or if that is even possible). I have two Deployment Types setup. The first one has a Requirement that the Device Affinity needs to be set for the user. So if that requirement is met, it will automatically install (Required). I setup a second Deployment Type that isn't restricted. So that one will run if the requirement from the first Deployment Type isn't met. But it automatically installs; and I need it to be available.

I know this is a bit confusing to follow. So if you need any further clarification please let me know and I will try to re-word it.

Thanks again!
