Automatically add devices to collection based on TS variable

Hello All - Fairly new to SCCM and running 2012 SP1. I've been getting along pretty well so far but I'm stuck on something. I have a fairly simple HTA that allows the engineer imaging the machine to define what type of role this PC fits into (accounting, design, marketing, etc). I'd like to take that variable and automatically add the computer into a specific collection. Then I'd like to advertise the packages for that role to that specific collection. Is this possible?

 

I've come across posts where people set up collection membership based on AD Group Membership -- not really looking for that since we don't use groups that way.
