Task Sequence fails at the Setting Admin Password part?

Recommended Posts

Hi, pretty new to SSCM. Trying to set up a test Windows 7 deployment, got everything set up as should be (per the guides on here). Created the task sequence and deployed. There seems to be an issue somewhere. Basically I do the PXE boot and then select the task sequence, and it seems to be working, however it fails at one of the steps.

From my trouble shooting I've chose the "Continue on error" step for "Apply Windows Settings" when I've tried again. This results in it seeming to work except for that error, however it does none of the following steps. (for example appears to be installing each listed Application, but theyre no where to be found when I test out the install!)

When I turned off the option in "Apply Windows Settings" to enter an admin password, and I let it automatically generate it instead, it seems to work. I get no errors and once the OS is installed, the log in screen is displayed in the correct resolution so drivers/etc must be sorted out. (When it was failing with the error it'd have a basic resolution/not the one needed)

So basically when "Randomly generate the local admin password and disable the account on all support platforms (reccomended)" is selected, it seems to work. However if i choose "Enable local administrator account and enter password" it fails.

(I can't log in if i don't know the randomly generated password it seems. hence the problem. domain log in doesn't seem to work but I'll do the part manually after deployment if needed)

Any ideas on what might be the problem or how I should try troubleshooting this? Thanks.
