Awis Posted November 6, 2013 Report post Posted November 6, 2013 Hi, Upgraded SCCM to versions R2 and MDT Refresh task sequence starts to fail when started from XP. Does anybody have successfully launched Task Sequence from XP, Task Sequence fails to restart to Windows XP. So, the main question is, anybody succeeded performing Refresh from XP with SCCM 2012 R2? Thanks.

Tof006 Posted November 15, 2013 Report post Posted November 15, 2013 This article explains that there's a problem with bootsect.exe in the new boot images : http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/041975df-a8a8-48cb-8d9f-0446c35210fe/sccm-2012-r2-boot-image-wont-load-in-windows-xp?forum=configmanagerosd I'd love to try replacing bootsect.exe in the image but don't really have time to do that. Tof006 Posted November 19, 2013 Report post Posted November 19, 2013 Here's how I did the WinPE with bootsect.exe v6.2.9200 : You can use this software to download the bootsect.exe v6.2.9200 or older if you don't have them : getwaiktools I went in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\8.1\Assessment and Deployment Kit\Deployment Tools\x86\BCDBoot and C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\8.1\Assessment and Deployment Kit\Deployment Tools\x64\BCDBoot Renamed bootsect.exe to bootsect.exe.new Copied the older bootsect.exe in the corresponding directories And created a new Boot Image. That's all and it works. Thanks
jaskied4276 Posted April 9, 2014 Report post Posted April 9, 2014 There is a supported solution now... It requires a hotfix KB2910552 more detail her on installing http://davejaskie.com/2014/03/30/system-center-configuration-manager-sccm-2012-r2-and-xp-migrations-require-hotfix-2910552-to-ensure-no-ntldr-missing-error/ In addition it requires the use of an older boot image: http://davejaskie.com/2014/04/03/installing-a-legacy-boot-image-in-sccm-to-support-xp-migrations/ When both are in place on the system the migration booting from XP is possible and works well. It is also worth noting that we do use MDT 2013 tools without any issues in PE
