BCabrales Posted November 27, 2013 Report post Posted November 27, 2013 Hello, We are a couple of updates behind with our SCCM 2012 installation and are looking now to go to SCCM 2012 R2. We have not installed SP1 yet and I was hoping to get some opinions and guidance on the best way to go about getting to the new release. We do not want to stay on SCCM 2012 SP1 for any length of time, we want to install the service pack then turn around and install R2. With this in mind, do we need to install ADK 8.0, or is installing ADK 8.1 from the get go ok? Will SCCM 2012 SP1 except the newer ADK version? Any knowledge on this would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in Advance, BCabrales
Peter van der Woude Posted November 27, 2013 Report post Posted November 27, 2013 The different ADK versions are also needed for updating the different version of the boot images (used by the different versions of ConfigMgr). anyweb Posted November 28, 2013 Report post Posted November 28, 2013 to be clear, you need to install ADK 8.0 to install SP1 and you then need to uninstall ADK 8.0 and install ADK 8.1 to upgrade to R2.

BCabrales Posted December 3, 2013 Report post Posted December 3, 2013 How about as far as client installation? Lets say I were to do the sp1 update followed quickly by the R2 update can I only distribute the R2 client or do the clients need to be updated to SP1 prior to installing the R2 client? anyweb Posted December 3, 2013 Report post Posted December 3, 2013 you should be able to deploy he R2 version of the client without having the SP1 client installed first, no problem
